MARDAN: Due to security concerns, the sisters of late Mashal Khan are unable to attend classes at their respective educational institutions, Iqbal Khan, father of Mashal said on Wednesday.
While talking to the media, Iqbal said, “My daughters face a serious threat and that is why I cannot take the risk to send them to their educational institutions,” he said. “I will prefer to educate my daughters at home,” he added.
Iqbal said that the authorities were not cooperating with him as he had requested the government several times to provide security to his family.
Mashal Khan, a 23-year-old journalism student was lynched by a charged mob at the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan on April 13, 2017, over allegations of uploading blasphemous content on social media.
Probing the lynching case, a 13-member joint investigation team (JIT) was formed to investigate the murder case. A report by the JIT bench stated that a group of students in the university incited a mob against Mashal on the pretext of blasphemy. It added that no evidence could be found against Mashal Khan.
