Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has blamed government for prevailing un-rest in the country following the operation against the Faizabad protesters.
“The prime minister and his ministers have pushed the country into a state of turmoil,” he said.
He demanded that the prime minister should resign for his failure to deal with the protesters.
“Prime Minister Shahid khaqan Abbasi must resign,” Khan said.
He also urged Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Law Minister Zahid Hamid to resign immediately.
Protests spread all over the country
Demonstrators took to the streets in major cities around the country to protest massive crackdown by security forces in Islamabad.
Protesters started gathering at key points across the country including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Azad Kashmir, Tando Allahyar, Jacobabad, Chakwal, Sabrial, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.
In Karachi, 35 people – including two policemen – sustained injuries as agitators blocked main arteries such as Shahrah-e-Faisal and forcibly shut down shops in Saddar.
