ISLAMABAD: The accountability court summoned on Thursday former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members on September 19 with regards to two corruption references filed against them by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Reports said the former premier and his sons Hussain and Hasan have been summoned with regards to the Al Azizia Steel Mills reference whereas the three along with Nawaz’s daughter Maryam and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar have been summoned on the same date in a reference about London flats.
A day earlier, the court had summoned Nawaz Sharif and his two sons on September 19 in reference regarding flagship companies. The NAB has filed three references against the Sharif family and one against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the accountability court in light of the Supreme Court’s Panama Papers case verdict of July 28.
The summons have been sent to Nawaz Sharif’s homes in Raiwind and Model Town. According to a copy of the summons issued in flagship companies case, the former premier has been asked to appear in person at 9am on September 19. It says that Nawaz’s presence is necessary to respond to the charges against him.
On Wednesday, the NAB had resubmitted all four references in the accountability court after the registrar had raised objections over technical errors present in the references.
“The references regarding Al Azizia Steel Mills/Hill Metal Company (Jeddah) and Avenfield Properties London have been received by the registrar and receipts issued to NAB,” NAB spokesman had said.
