GUJRANWALA: PML-N Union Council Chairmen Asif Munir Goga and Sabir Butt alleged that they are being victimized by their own government because they spoke against corruption, negligence of local bodies and mismanagement of sanitation work in the city.
In a joint statement, they said that municipal corporation authorities have done nothing for the betterment of the city. Seven months have passed after local bodies’ election but even a single meeting to resolve the city problems is not held yet by the corporation authorities.
All the time has passed as celebrating honey moon and receiving congratulations. They said extortion case against them is totally baseless. They said Sub-engineer Gulzar received Rs 100,000 as a bribe from one of their relatives. They added they took the matter in the notice of Mayor Sheikh Sarwat Ikram who promised to take the money back. Later, Gulzar returned Rs 35 thousands through some local bodies members and also promised to return the remaining amount.
They said that now Gulzar gave an application against them in Sabzi Mandi police station which is baseless.
“We know that he did this with the collaboration of some political figures whom were angry at us for telling the truth in the meetings and for raising the voice against the problems being faced by the citizens of Gujranwala.”
They said, ‘Fake cases cannot stop us to say truth. We shall face the conspiracies from our local party leaders with courage.”
