GILGIT: Three police officials martyred on Friday night as unidentified persons opened fire at Kargah check post of the area.
However, the police have reportedly killed two terrorists in reactionary firing.
In the firing incident, some police personnel wounded and were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Gilgit.
A lot of terrorist attacks have been reported from Gilgit Baltistan region lately.
Earlier this month, unknown assailants had blown up three government schools using explosives and set another nine on fire. Most of these schools were for girls only.
No casualties were reported in the attacks that appeared to have been orchestrated by extremists opposed to women’s education
After the attack, search operations were conducted in the region during which many suspects had been arrested yet arrested.
On August 6, the Gilgit-Baltistan police claimed that Chilas school attackers were trained in Afghanistan.
